Alumni Golf Tournament

Hello Band families and Community Supporters!

It’s that time of year for our 4th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament & Dinner/Silent Auction on Saturday - September 18, 2010. We are in need of your help for our sponsors, golfers and auction items. If any of you have your own business or know someone who owns a business this is a great way to support our Band and to get some advertising out there for our businesses. Our lowest sponsorship starts at $125.00 for a t-sign that our golfers will see when they are out on the course and our guests will see during our dinner/auction.

Another way to help out with our Golf Tournament is to donate an item or items to your Class Auction Themed Basket. This year we have an incentive for your donation. Please bring in an item or items related to their students class basket or bring in $10.00 (in cash), in an envelope with their students name & JoAnn Larsen/Golf Tourney, for us to do your shopping. All items will need to be brought into the band room by Sept 10. Each student that brings in an item will have their name entered in our prize drawing for a $25.00 Jamba Juice Gift card at our first All Parent meeting after the golf tournament. Mr. Burdick-Rutz must see the item being turned in and the students name will be given to our golf tourney committee. Also make sure that the students name is on the item.

In addition to the basket items we will need any basket making supplies: large & over-sized baskets, cello wrap, fluff for inside the baskets, sticky dots, tape and spools of ribbon for bow making.

Our basket themes that we will need items donated are as follows:

Freshman:

ClassFunin the sun ~ any items related to a day at the beach. ~ Beach chair, umbrella, Frisbee, football. Volleyball & net, beach towel, beach mat, small cooler, sun screen, sun glasses, water bottle.

Sophmore Class: 

Family Night ~ games, cards, movies, snacks & treats, restaurant gift cards (Any pizza place, Panda Express, Applebee’s, Chili’s, any favorite restaurant.

Junior Class:

Sports Basket ~ Any outdoor game sets, ie: footballs, Frisbee, baseball/softball & bat/glove, soccer ball, volleyball, lawn games. Water bottle, small drinking cooler, any sports event tickets, sports bar gift cards, pizza gift cards, grocery store gift cards, sports drinks, sports trading cards.

Senior Class:

Pamper Yourself ~ Spa gift cards, Wine, wine glasses, chocolates, soft robe for women or men, soft large towels, slippers, bath accessories such as wash gloves, puffs, body washes, body sprays, bath salts, lotions, bath caddy, relaxing music CD, candles, candle holders.

Any alcoholic beverages will need to be arranged to be picked up and not given to the students to bring into school. Please call JoAnn Larsen 951-232-4088 to arrange this drop off.

Fiesta Bowl Update

Hello Spirit of Great Oak Families!

Fiesta Bowl planning is underway.  The band will be heading to Phoenix on December 28, 2010 and returning on January 1, 2011.  Detailed information will be presented at our parent meeting on Wednesday, September 15th, but for those of you wanting to get a jump-start on planning, following is information for the Fiesta Bowl Events in December 2010:

Booster Packages are available for $135.  Please see the attached order form for more info - this form must be mailed to the address at the bottom of the attachment no later than Sept 8th.

If you only want Band Championship and/or Parade seating tickets (and not the whole Booster Pkg.) they can be purchased separately and should be available beginning September 6th.  The Band Championship (also referred to as the Field Contest) tickets will run $16 - $29 and the Parade seating will be $25 (though there is plenty of free "sidewalk" seating if you just want to pack a chair). Call 1-800-635-5748 or go to www.fiestabowl.org; Events; Tickets; and choose “Band Championship” or “Parade”.  This is a great website for maps or any other info re: other Fiesta Bowl Events.

The band will be staying at the Crown Plaza Hotel – Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and the link is http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/phxea.  We have been quoted a rate per room of $97 plus tax.  Breakfast is not included.

Again, more details will be available as the itinerary is confirmed.  Please note: We are not performing at the BCS Football Game.
